Extra! Extra!  Be sure to read all about it!

We are thrilled and honoured to announce that a Nikko Photography wedding has been featured on Style Me Pretty Canada (one of the top wedding blogs in the business)! Kaitlyn and Brian’s “Love is Brewing” wedding was a spectacular event!  It was a pleasure working with this incredible couple and all their fabulous vendors – especially The Wedding Planners.

Just wanted to share our happy news.  Also, please check out our full blog post on Kaitlyn and Brian’s big day.

I knew right from the start that Kaitlyn and Brian’s wedding would be one of my favourite events to photograph this year.

First of all, these two are such a sweet and gracious couple, and they are a blast to hang out with.  Secondly, it was amazing to finally shoot a wedding at the Steam Whistle Brewing (one of my Wish List venues).  Top it all off with gorgeous handmade details (courtesy of the bride and groom themselves), a live band (featuring the bride’s father) and they even had their dog “Ralph” join in on the festivities.  And let’s be honest.  It was pretty much the gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches for the late night snack (one of Kaitlyn and Brian’s favourite dishes) that sealed the deal for me!

It was a perfect day. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Danielle - The Wedding Planners - These photos are gorgeous Nikko! I love your style and dedication to the perfect shot! You captured Katie and Brian’s inner and outer beauty!

It was a pleasure working with you on this wedding and I look forward to many more wedding adventures with you!

I may be biased, but I have always believed that wedding photography is one of the first things a couple should book when starting to plan their big day (right up there with date, ceremony and venue).  You want to be sure that you have the right person working for you to ensure you capture all the key moments and memories.  I know I’m not alone in my theory as many couples book their wedding photographer well in advance of their big day.

So, it was more than year ago that I met with Amy and Gordon and signed on to shoot their upcoming wedding.  Since we decided to schedule their engagement session closer to the actual wedding and so much time had passed, I almost forgot how upbeat and charismatics these two are!  But no worries.  We had a fabulous time reacquainting ourselves during their engagement shoot.  We definitely got a whole range of pictures showcasing all shades of their personalities – from sweet embraces to bold poses and even an action hero jump shot. Love it!

Great job Amy and Gordon!  After such an enjoyable shoot, I bet I’m almost as excited as you two are for your summer wedding :).

Sam and Justin had an intimate and romantic wedding.  It was a quiet affair, but a truly a magical one.  Set in a winery in Toronto, they exchanged vows by candlelight, surrounded by a modest number of close family and friends.

It was fun working with Sam and Justin.  We had a great time playing around with the rustic backgrounds of the winery.  Of course, the food and wine were exceptional.  Everyone had an unforgettable evening.

Timing really is everything.

Zyra and Chris made an excellent choice scheduling their wedding so close to Valentine’s Day and during Ontario’s Family Day weekend.  Everyone is already in the mood for love, friendship and family, and I can’t think of a better way of celebrating than with a wedding!

These two are one of the sweetest couples I know.  What was most memorable about their special day was just how happy they were.  Don’t get me wrong!  Everything was beautiful from the venue (the Old Mill Inn is one of my favourite locations to shoot and the food is exquisite), to the decor (be sure to take a look at those incredible centrepieces) and the cake (Zyra’s family makes delicious cakes), but the true showstoppers were Zyra and Chris and how happy they looked to finally be man and wife.

Like I said before, I expect only good things for 2012!  We’re on a roll people!

I met Cynthia and Randy when they visited my booth at the National Bridal Show in January 2011. I held a contest for a free 2-hour Engagement Session and this lucky couple entered and won!

Cynthia and Randy envisioned a playful winter engagement shoot.  It took a while for us to finally get the weather we wanted (we waited a whole year), but I have to say that the pictures were worth the wait.  Congrats Cynthia and Randy – for winning our prize and especially for your upcoming wedding.

There was never a dull moment…

It’s a sign! Allie and Rick’s beautiful winter wedding tells me that 2012 will be an unforgettable year for Nikko Photography.

While my wife hung out at the Nikko Photography booth on Saturday during the Total Wedding Show, I was partying it up in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Although it was freezing, this couple and their bridal party were amazing to work with. They were willing to brave the snow to get some fabulous shots. Plus, I loved how their wedding truly represented the Canadian spirit with hockey pucks, hockey sticks, The Bay blankets and beaver hats (yes, you heard me…beaver hats). What was really nice was how Allie added her own creativity with subtle yet significant gestures. For example, she made the boutonniere that Rick wore, as well as the rose she accented her bridal gown with (she made it using material from her beloved grandfather’s old fedora).

Of course, it was Allie and Rick’s warmth, generosity and humour that made it an extraordinary evening. I feel pretty lucky I was able to be a part of Allie and Rick’s wedding and had the opportunity to capture wonderful memories of such a happy day!

Congrats Allie and Rick!
