Nikko Photography will have a booth at this year’s Total Wedding Show.  The event runs from January 20-22 at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Rd. We are set up at booth 400.

Although we recognize visiting our booth should be the biggest incentive to go :), there are other perks. For example, you could win a:

  • $5,000.00 prize package from The Bay
  • Romantic honeymoon from Executive Travel Services Inc, Air Canada Vacations and Palace Resorts
  • Total Wedding Planner (free for the first 100 brides to the show)
  • Diamond ring

Plus, it’s free parking! What more could you ask for?

Happy New Year!

I’ve always believed that the way you embrace a new year sets the tone for the next 365 days. So Nikko Photography will be starting things off on the right foot. The first order of business is that we’ve made some tweaks to the look and feel of our website, we’ve updated our portfolio page and we’ve allowed for user commenting on the site (tell us what you think!).

Next, I’ve decided to delve into the social media world and have started a Nikko Photography Facebook page (nikkophoto) and a Twitter account (@nikkophoto). Please be sure to check them out.

2011 was a fabulous year, but I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be even better.

We ended 2011 with a bang.

I am so pleased that Courtney and Greg’s wedding was my last event for 2011. It was the perfect way to end a spectacular year of shooting amazing weddings and engagement sessions. Courtney and Greg live up in Barrie and their winter celebration was definitely a chic one. Photographing this wedding was just too much fun! Plus, Courtney and Greg are just such a considerate and generous pair, it was a pleasure I could be a part of their special day.

Congrats Courtney and Greg.

If you read one of my earlier posts, you’ll know that on the day of my first year anniversary, I spent most of it shooting another wedding. Hey, I’m dedicated to my craft! Besides, I made it up to my wife by taking her to Paris in October as an anniversary gift for the both of us.

Come on! The Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre Couer, La Défense, Palais de Versailles and so much more. We even went on day and night bike tours, complete with a boat ride on the Seine River.  So I think I totally get points for this. Heck, I think this also awards me get a “get out of the doghouse for life” pass. Right? Yah…I didn’t think so either.

Star and Trevor are one of the most interesting and enjoyable couples. First off, they like to do things their own way and don’t care if their methods are considered unconventional. Also, they are so cool and don’t worry too much about the little details, which is contagious. After hanging out with them, you can’t help but adopt their “go with the flow” nature.

For Star and Treveor’s engagement shoot, we decided to keep things low key and focus on the things they love. We took a nature walk and even visited their favourite pie shack – they were right, it was the best pie I’ve ever tasted. Thanks guys!

Weddings that take place during the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend are so beautiful to photograph. From my experience, this is the perfect time in between when the leaves have all just turned brilliant autumn colours and right before they fall off the trees (I swear, they all fall down in the next week or so).

As a result, Angel and Kevin had a breathtaking backdrop for their outdoor wedding in the woods. But it’s not like this lovey-dovey couple noticed the surroundings much. They only had eyes for each other.

Sure, I’ve experienced some extreme conditions lately when photographing my couples, but I’d say Courtney and Greg have taken things to the next level. We took some causal and fun pictures – then we really got daring by hanging off a bridge and these two even got out the canoe for a ride in the crazy waters. But you’d never be able to guess there were any possibilities of risk because Courtney and Greg were amazing throughout the shoot.

Thanks guys for showing me around your neck of the woods.

I had a blast photographing Norie and Andre’s wedding. Norie and Andre wanted both of their cultures (Japanese and Italian) to have a strong presence on their big day. They included:

  • A Catholic priest who has spent a great deal of his time in Japan, so was able to conduct the ceremony in both English and Japanese
  • Norie wore a traditional kimono
  • DELCIOUS FOOD from both cultures (the antipasto was incredible!)

Norie and Andre are such a kind and hospitable pair. They were a pleasure to shoot.

Congrats to the happy couple.

Ceremony: Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Parish
Reception: Paramount Conference and Event Venue
